Contact the author: I show you how I saved up enough for a down payment while earning less than the nation's "average" wage. And I show you how I found my next house, that was twice as big but cost half as much. With the money from the sale of my first home, and the extra money I put in the bank, I was able to make an all-cash offer on my current home, and I'll show you exactly how I did it.

How to Own a House Mortgage Free, and Give Yourself the Freedom to Follow Your Dreams As I thought about what life could be like without the burden of a mortgage - the chance for one of us to stay home with the baby without the other one feeling trapped - Jonni's story went from merely an interesting story about someone else to something that we could learn from and aspire to. She was making $12/hr when she figured out her plan to own a house free and clear, and she was renting an apartment and had almost no savings. She did not get any monetary presents, and she did not do anything unscrupulous. What she did do was devise a very well thought out plan and stick to that plan every day for five years. After three years she had moved into a nice little house of her own,

Contact the author: When you create your own plan, you might decide to take things slower and accumulate more cash so you can buy a bigger house than I did. (A friend of mine did just that, and I'll show you how she did it). Luckily for us our financial situation is more comfortable than Jonni's was when she started her journey. We do have savings and we are making a comfortable living (although it didn't feel that comfortable 6 months ago, because of our high expenses).
